“Through joint efforts, consistency, and dedication, we will build the future of sports in Yerevan” — Tigran Avinyan
Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan hosted the athletes who got first, second, and third places at the 2026 European Shooting Championship. Congratulating them on their outstanding achievements, the Mayor noted that Yerevan has entered a new phase of sports life, marked by a growing number of national and international events that will continue to expand and evolve.
“Sport plays a pivotal role in shaping people’s character and fostering a healthy, harmonious society. It is not merely competition, but also a vital platform for fostering values, resilience, and unity. I am sure that, through new ideas and innovative approaches, we can further broaden public engagement in sports and strengthen community life in this sphere. This is why we are modernizing existing sports infrastructure and constructing new facilities. I am confident that, through our joint efforts, consistency, and dedication, we will build the future of sports in Yerevan,” stated the Mayor.
Athletes who got top-three places at the 2026 European Shooting Championship, along with the national team coach, were awarded monetary prizes.
