Yerevan is Armenia’s largest economic, scientific, and cultural center, as well as an important transport and logistics hub for regional freight flows. The city represents a dominant share of the country's economy, accounting for 42.1% of total industrial output, 53.9% of construction, 82.6% of retail trade, 85.5% of services, 77.6% of newly built residential buildings, and 33.2% of hotel establishments.
The population of Yerevan is 1,076,500, which represents more than 35% of the country’s total population.
Yerevan’s economy is diverse, ranging from agricultural processing to information technology.
Public transport is provided by road and electric transport, including the metro. The city has a railway station and an international airport.
Given Yerevan’s administrative, economic, scientific, and cultural significance, the Yerevan Municipality focuses on developing all sectors of the urban economy in accordance with modern requirements. This includes implementing infrastructure improvements and development programs across these sectors. In this context, expanding international cooperation and establishing effective partnerships between the city authorities and the private sector are particularly important.
