First Concert at “Arev Arena”

18.06.2026

Having been neglected for years, the area adjacent to the Music School named after M. Mirzoyan and Basic School No. 188 in Yerevan has been completely transformed. Initiated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, the site has been rebuilt into a modern, open-air cultural venue named “Arev Arena”.
The name and brand identity of “Arev Arena” were designed to reflect an open, contemporary, and creative public space, a vibrant new hub bringing together art, education, and community life.
Built to accommodate an audience of around 500, the venue will host a wide range of events, including multi-genre concerts, theatrical performances, film screenings, and other cultural events. During the summer months, it will also serve as a youth and children’s creative camp, welcoming around 300 participants.
The reconstruction, renovation, and furnishing of the space took about two months. Over this period, the infrastructure was fully upgraded: new water supply and drainage systems were installed, and the entire area was landscaped, upgraded, and paved.
On June 17, “Arev Arena” officially opened with a gala concert marking the 17th annual competition-festival for Yerevan’s music and art schools.
During the event, another major initiative was announced. For the first time in nearly 60 years, the city authorities have acquired 30 “KAWAI” grand pianos for Yerevan’s music and art schools, which will significantly elevate the quality of music education.
The evening also featured the launch of the book “Principles of Violin Playing and Teaching” by the world-renowned, Armenian violinist and teacher Ivan Galamian. The book has been translated into Armenian for the very first time, at the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.
