Expired food products or products without appropriate labeling in Yerevan supermarkets
Meat products, dairy products, confectionery: currently, the expiration dates and storage conditions of all food and non-food products, including the temperature in the refrigerator and the look of the product are being checked in supermarkets chains in the city. Yerevan Municipality carries out supervision in order to protect consumer rights.
Most violations relate to the absence of a production date for the product, as well as double labeling. According to the law, a fine of 100-200 thousand drams is applied for similar violations.
Citizens have the right to request information about the expiration dates of products. Products with an expired shelf life or those not labeled with the production date and expiration date are dangerous to health.
The Municipality also provide the results of the inspection to the Food Safety Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia. Expired food products are subject to return and disposal.
During the inspection, the public order protection service also checks the compliance of plastic bags with established standards.
Particular attention is also paid to the clothing of sellers. In large and small stores, enhanced inspections will be ongoing.
