The recipients of first category diplomas in the city stage of the Schoolchildren’s Olympiad  of 2024-2025 academic year were honored with awards from the Mayor of Yerevan. Diplomas and gift cards for bookstores were handed out to 57 schoolchildren from Yerevan.
"Education is not just about winning in competitions. It is the foundation for your personal development, independent decision-making, and building a dignified life. Every student, through their achievements, not only shapes their future but also contributes to the future of our country and city," said the Mayor in his congratulatory address to the diploma recipients, wishing that their aspiration for learning never weakens.
During the meeting, the Mayor of Yerevan also discussed existing issues in the educational sector with principals and administrative coordinators of community schools and listened to their suggestions.
"The school must be a safe and open space based on knowledge, values, and civic thinking. Our goal is not just to convey knowledge but to nurture responsible, law-conscious, and thoughtful citizens through education. Today’s children need more than just knowledge, they should develop critical thinking skills, confidence to orientate themselves and make decisions, teamwork abilities, and a sense of responsibility. Achieving this is impossible without your involvement. Your role is crucial not only in terms of organization but also ideologically," emphasized the Mayor.
Tigran Avinyan also answered questions about the city’s development and presented current and planned programs.
