For the third year running, with the assistance of Yerevan Municipality and at the initiative of the RA Ministry of Agriculture the fair of agricultural products has been organized in the area adjacent to Kasyan street. Thе farming companies from the regions of Armenia take part in the fair and present the consumers the goods of their own production.

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan familiarized himself with the conditions at the market and talked to the sellers and customers.
Answering the journalists' questions Yerevan Mayor stressed the importance of the organization of such markets in the capital.
“A few years ago, when this initiative was just started, many people doubted that it would be of long duration. However, time showed that the fairs are not only necessary but started involving more and more enterprises. Last year more than 15 thousand farming companies took part in the two fairs organized in lively areas of the capital-here and near Mashtots avenue. Organizing such fairs we solve several problems at the same time. First, we create additional opportunity for rural dwellers and farming companies to sell their own products in lively areas of the capital without middlemen. Secondly, the townspeople in their turn can buy agricultural products first hand”, said Taron Margaryan adding that Yerevan Municipality is ready to discuss the issue of allotting new areas appropriate for organization of fairs.
“You are aware that during the recent years, besides main markets we have created mini-markets in the administrative districts where farmers can sell their product every day. We are ready to increase the number of markets if necessary. I'd like to assure that Yerevan Municipality within its powers is ready to show support the farming companies in the realization of their products in proper conditions”, said the Mayor. The Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan noted that such culture of organization of retail trade is successful.
“The agricultural fairs have been organized for the sixth year. It is a new culture in the field of retail trade, and today we can state that it is successful. Many farming companies used to have no opportunity to sell their own products and due to these fairs they can sell their products free of charge and this fact is beneficial not only for rural dwellers but for the townspeople as they can buy fresh agricultural products at more available prices”, said the Minister.
Yerevan Mayor and the minister of Agriculture did some shopping at the market.
It should be noted that farming companies take part in the fairs without paying any fees. The Ministry of Agriculture provides the participants with free tents, stalls, scales and strollers. The participation in the fair is permitted only if there are corresponding references given by the centers for agriculture support confirming that the products presented for sale are produced by the participant.
