Transport, waste removal, urban development: Yerevan and Ile-de-France to develop the cooperation
Yerevan and Ile-de-France are going to cooperate in the issues related to installation of a new transport network, regulation of waste removal and urban development. Theses and a number of other issues were discussed during the meeting of the First Deputy Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan with the members of Ile-de-France Regional Council delegation. The Advisor of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia for cooperation and cultural issues Alex Bortola took part in the meeting too.
Attaching importance to bilateral cooperation expansion Hrachya Sargsyan expressed confidence that the visit of specialists will promote more effective solution of the problems in the mentioned spheres.
“The road map signed between Yerevan and Ile-de-France Regional Council provides a wide circle of cooperation. Transport reforms, waste management, including the construction of a new dump, some urban development issues are of priority for us. I know that within this short time you have been able to familiarize yourselves with the main problems of Yerevan and the programs carried out by the city authorities. To make the cooperation more essential I’d like to get to know the conclusions made by experts”, stressed Hrachya Sargsyan.
Expressing gratitude for the meeting the members of the delegation noted that it shows the special attitude to the cooperation. In relation to waste management the guests noted that in spite of the problems rooted in this sphere, the capital looks quite clean. As regards the field of urban development they outlined the necessity of additional legal regulations and having a General plan with new approaches.
The French experts also proposed to install a general system reflecting the city problems, strategy and solutions.
Hrachya Sargsyan informed that the creation of a general database had already been planned. The First Deputy Mayor expressed hope that after summarizing the results of the visit it will become possible to make the cooperation more practical.
The members of the delegation claimed that due to combining efforts and work styles significant results will be seen in a few years to come. The French party will submit its proposals and methods concerning different fields of urban economy. The sequence of cooperation will be determined in near future and a joint working group will be formed.
