At the meeting convened on October 31 the Council of Elders of Yerevan approved by unanimous voting the suggestions about decisions to place memorial boards to the statesman and public figure Frunze Kharatyan, the esseist Zorayr Khalapyan and to the first Armenian woman-pilot Ninel Gharajyan.

The Council also approved of the suggestion of the member of the Republican party faction H. Tokmajyan to arrange, landscape and turn into a recreation zone the area of 5,637 ha located near Guy avenue and “Waterland” in Nor Nork district. According to H. Tokmajyan’s suggestion the draft estimate documentation of the improvement and landscaping has been accepted by the decision of the Council as a present.

The Council of Elders also approved unanimously of the draft decisions on free alienation of a number of flats considered Yerevan-owned, on changing the purpose significance of land plots as well as of allotting some property by free use right to “The central library after A. Isahakyan” community non-commercial organization.

According to the Council’s decision the next meeting of the Council of Elders will be held on November 25.

The announced break was followed by questions and answers, during which in respond to the question raised by the member of the Republican party faction Roza Sirunyan regarding the health care programs being implemented in the capital, the head of the Department of Health Care of the Municipality said that within the recent months more than 8 thousand people made use of free medical aid rendered within the frames of two charity actions carried out by the Municipality. Besides, this year by the financial means of the Yerevan budget new necessary medical equipment has been purchased for the first time. As regards the program of merging the policlinics N 7 and N 8 the process is still going on.

In respond to the question of the member of the PAP faction Tamar Poghosyan regarding the awareness of public of this or that building process by the order established by law it was mentioned that the requirement of the existing law is regarding the raised issue is ensured and the processes are fulfilled exceptionally within the frames of the law. Regarding the question of the member of “Barev Yerevan” faction Gagik Baghdasaryan related to external lighting and generally overground cable network the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan informed that the issue is at the focus of the Municipality of Yerevan and certain steps directed at the problem solution had already been undertaken. Presently, a pilot program of underground network installation is being carried out. In parallel, negotiations are being carried out with the private, including international companies and organizations regarding this large-scale program. Besides, the lighting network in all newly-built streets is underground.

While giving explanations to the question raised by the member of the PAP faction Jivan Poghosyan regarding the dumps in the capital, the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan informed that the competition announced for sanitary cleaning activities had taken place and 2 international companies had been recognized winners, so, in accordance with the treaty, they will start sanitary cleaning and waste removal activities in the capital since April 1, 2014. Moreover, in the coming spring a competition for building a recycling plant and its operation will be announced.

In respond to the question of the member of the RPA faction Naira Nahapetyan on the process of cooperation between Yerevan and Stepanakert it was noted that certain steps had already been taken in all the outlined directions and were being fulfilled with success. Mayor Taron Margaryan outlined among other questions the joint program of establishment Park of Azatamartiks in Stepanakert, stressing that it would be a present to Stepanakert from the city of Yerevan.
