International chess tournament in which strongest grandmasters participate
The chess tournament "Rafael Vaganyan Cup", included in the list of annual events of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Yerevan Municipality, was held in the capital.
Among the guests were legendary chess players of the recent past, who once fought for the chess throne together with R. Vaganyan.
The participants competed in the district tournament, both in rapid and blitz chess. The tournament was broadcast online and received a great response.
The winner of the two tournaments was International Master Ashot Nadanyan, who played without defeats, scoring 21 points out of 28 possible.
Swedish grandmaster Ulf Andersson came second with 16.5 points.
Grandmaster Rafael Vaganyan closes the top three with 16 points. The international grandmasters noted that the tournament was organized in accordance with the highest international standards and expressed hope that it would become traditional.
