The issues related to the program targeted at the improvement of the system of solid wastes management in Yerevan and the construction of the new landfill site were discussed during the meeting of Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Vahe Nikoyan with the representatives of the consulting company «GMCS-Prague».
Stressing the importance of the program Vahe Nikoyan noted that the primary task for Yerevan Municipality is the preparation of the competition documentation and a precise schedule in accordance with which the construction is to start. The Deputy Mayor also noted that Yerevan Municipality is ready to show assistance to the consulting company during the implementation.
The head of the consulting company Jane Sisoeva assured that they would do their best to ensure the construction of the new landfill site in Yerevan which would correspond to international standards.
During the meeting the experts presented their approaches, possible solutions and remarks concerning the conceptual project of the new landfill site and the situation with the old dump. the issues related to technical and economical justification were discussed as well.
It should be noted that the program being realized by credit and grant means includes the construction and operation of a new landfill site which will correspond to European standards.
