Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan met with Paralympic and world champions. At the initiative of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, U.S. sports envoys and wheelchair basketball players Rose Hollermann and Steve Serio visited Armenia from June 15 to 17. The visit took place under the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Sports Envoys Program. Its aim was to strengthen American-Armenian cooperation and expand opportunities for young people.  
Paralympic and world champions, multiple medalists Rose Hollermann and Steve Serio, held training sessions, workshops, and master classes in Yerevan and Gyumri for Armenian youth and athletes with disabilities.
On June 17, a wheelchair basketball demonstration game took place in Freedom Square. The program was implemented in cooperation with the Yerevan Municipality, the Armenian Wheelchair Basketball Federation, “Ayb” School, the “Shengavit Children & Youth Complex Sports School”, and Shirak State University.
