"Together we can build communities where every citizen will feel worthy and protected": Tigran Avinyan
November 10 is celebrated as Local Self-Government Day in Armenia.
The event dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the introduction of the local self-government system was attended RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, local government bodies, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Armenia Maxime Longangue, EU Ambassador Vasilis Maragos.
Congratulating those present on the 28th anniversary of the introduction of the local self-government system, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted that local self-government bodies have a great responsibility to improve the lives of citizens and provide better services in communities.
"For successful self-government, we must have sufficient potential and capabilities to effectively use our resources and respond to new challenges. This involves consistent education, training, contemporary tools and methods, such as competent work with artificial intelligence, which can replace hundreds of hours of consulting work. All this will allow for more efficient governance. Complete autonomy and financial independence in relation to community-owned resources are important preconditions for solid self-government. In this regard, we must contribute to the creation of such a legislative and economic environment that will allow local governments to ensure financial stability and be independent in decision-making. All this requires cooperation between state and local government bodies, joint efforts and a common vision for the development and future of our country. I am confident that together we will be able to build communities in which every citizen will feel worthy and protected, where community life will be more stable and prosperous. Yerevan, being the largest community in our country, is ready to share its experience and support with other communities so that all cities and villages of our country have the necessary opportunities to fully realize their self-government potential. Once again, I congratulate all of us and wish that our communities become stronger and more dynamic together," the mayor said.
The film "The Path to the Formation of the Local Self-Government System in Armenia" was also shown during the event.
