The municipal artistic theatre “Mher Mkrtchyan” has been renovated and refurnished. Some last details, and it will open its doors.
The building of the theatre is in the heart of Yerevan, and it had lots of problems from roof to floor.
The renovation involved external and internal works including façade, roof repairs, replacement of doors and windows with new ones, interior redecoration, and new furniture. The stage of the hall provided for 160 spectators has been constructed from scratch. New fire protection systems were installed throughout the premises. The theatre has new light and sound equipment.
As Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan informed the city authorities’ policy is aimed at more concentration on the sphere of culture. 160 million drams were allotted from the city budget to complete the renovation. Thus, the theatre is expected to get a new impulse due to its new look.
The artistic theatre was founded thanks to the efforts of the USSR People’s Artist Mher Mkrtchyan. As the actor used to say, the work of an actor deals with nature, human emotions, and it is a wonderful world.
The municipal theatre is currently preparing for a new performance. It will open its doors with a first show.
