“We Will Join Our Efforts to Get Vision of Yerevan Development”: Yerevan to Have a New General Plan
Yerevan Municipality initiated designing of a new General Plan of the city. All necessary data will be collected and analyzed with the support of partner organizations to make a basis for the implementation of the project.
“The General Plan represents the main strategy of Yerevan development; it is the main urban development ground of the city. After today’s discussion we are going to start joining our efforts to get the vision of Yerevan development”, said Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.
The head of the Cadaster Committee Suren Tovmasyan marked that being the state authorized body coordinating the infrastructure of spatial data, geodesy and cartography, the Cadaster Committee expressed willingness to exchange certain information, make adjustments to the cadastral maps of Yerevan and clarify the boundaries.
This highly important document ensuring strategic development of the city is out of date and doesn’t meet existing requirements. Moreover, as a result of the years of irregular building development various deviations have emerged.
“Trying to avoid undertaking this burden we will worsen the situation and deepen already rooted problems”, stressed the Mayor.
The head of the Urban Development Committee Armen Ghularyan informed that the project of the General Plan had been worked out and submitted to the Mayor. In case of his approval, the document will be submitted to the Council of Elders. He greeted the initiative and thanked the Municipality and the Mayor for starting this process.
Currently, preparations are being made by “Yerevanproject” CJSC. The Chamber of Architects will join the team as well.
“It will contribute to urban development programs, to having more coordinated construction processes and road and transport network. This is a fundamental work the importance of which can’t be exaggerated”, stressed the Mayor.
The project is stipulated for Yerevan future development. It will become a digital document expressing the proportional and sustainable development of the city.
