Yerevan International Theatre Festival is held from October 17 to November 18. The world famous theatres the Odeon (Paris), the Alexandrinky (St. Petersburg) have arrived in Armenia for the fist time. Theatres form the USA, Poland, Georgia are hosted as well.
The goal of the festival is not only to present the performances of the leading theatre groups to the Armenian audience but also to clear a path for Armenian theatres to become more recognized and to promote professional development of those engaged in Armenian culture. The theatre festival is held with the support of Yerevan Municipality and the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
As the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Culture and Tourism Gosh Sargsyan marked, Yerevan audience should have the opportunity to enjoy high art in general and theatrical art in particular. The city authorities have carried out several projects so far and strive to expand the volumes of cultural events and to increase the quality and contents of such events. That is the policy the city authorities adopted in the sphere of culture, dur to which Yerevan and its cultural values will become more recognized and appreciated worldwide.
