The 4th Yerevan International Ballet Festival Kicks Off
From June 2 to 6, the 4th Yerevan International Ballet Festival will take place in Tumanyan Park. Established in 2023 at the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, the festival has quickly gained widespread international recognition and public acclaim, becoming one of the most anticipated cultural events in the city. Thanks to this initiative, Yerevan has become an important platform for international ballet, bringing together world-renowned theatres, choreographers, artists, and creative ensembles.
The festival has previously featured performances by leading theatres, including the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Mariinsky Theatre and the Boris Eifman Academic Ballet Theatre in St. Petersburg, the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Z. Paliashvili, as well as the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan in Yerevan. Held outdoors, the event offers thousands of attendees the unique opportunity to experience world-class ballet free of charge.
This year too, the festival will feature an exceptional program. On June 2 and 3, Tumanyan Park will host the world premiere of the ballet "Tamar", choreographed by renowned ballet master Ilya Zhivoy. The music for the ballet, which is based on the legend of “Akhtamar”, was composed by Switzerland-based composer Valeri Tolstov. On June 5 and 6, one of the most significant Armenian ballet works, the ballet-oratorio “Sasuntsi David”, will be presented. Its premiere took place on December 18 and 19, 2025.
