Construction of new motorway Davtashen-Ashtarak highway has been started in Yerevan
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan took part in the ceremony of laying of foundation of the new motorway Davtashen-Ashtarak highway.
The new road the construction of which is being fulfilled within 2 trench investment program of sustainable urban development financed by the Asian Bank for Development will have 6 lanes with the width of 28 m and length of 5.4 km. Presenting the details of the program the persons in charge reported that as a result of the construction of the segment of Davtashen-Astarak highway the administrative district of Davtashen will be connected with Ashtarak highway-the western gates of Yerevan. It was noted that the motorway will correspond to international standards of quality. During the construction activities all necessary communication lines will be replaced from the carriage way, the road will be provided with LED lighting.
During the ceremony Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the heads of “Black Sea Group” and “Vahagn and Samvel” Ghukas Grigoryan and Amiran Mamuchadze signed the bilateral memorandum which gave a start to the construction of the new road.
Stressing the particular importance of the new program of road construction in the capital Mayor Taron Margaryan outlined that today entrepreneurs take serious steps towards the construction of new bypass motorways.
“During the recent years the issue of the traffic relief in the center of the capital is among our priorities and as you know we have been carrying out concrete programs in this regard. For the third year running, in collaboration with the Asian Bank for Development we are fulfilling step by step large-scale road construction programs which will be continued in other administrative districts of Yerevan. Today we started the construction of Davtashen-Astarak highway construction. The construction of this bypass road is planned to complete in 2019 and as result we will have a road with 23 km length corresponding to European standards, which will connect the northern and southern gates of Yerevan and will become a big achievement for the capital”, said Taron Margaryan.
The persons in charge assured the Mayor that the road construction work is organized so that it can be finished in accordance with the schedule-within 18 months.
It should be noted that the reconstruction nd expansion of Arshakunyats avenue and Artashat highway as well as the segment of Nor Shirak road had been completed and their total length is of 5 km length. These segments were put into operation in December 2016. As a result Yerevan has got the southern entry corresponding to its purpose.
