The Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan and the Mayor of Bucharest Sorin Mirchea Opresku signed a Memorandum of Intentions which provides development of bilateral cooperation in different spheres of the economy of the capital.
Greeting the Mayor of Bucharest and the members of the delegation which arrived in Yerevan with an official visit Taron Margaryan introduced in brief the system of Yerevan management and its priorities and said that today there are wide perspectives and possibilities for cooperation both in the field of experience exchange in local self-government sphere and for development of effective cooperation in various spheres of urban economy. "In the context of cooperation the first step is the signing of the Memorandum of Intentions. We attach importance to concrete projects and to experience exchange in various spheres of urban economy. We are open and willing to develop mutually beneficial cooperation not only with Bucharest but with other cities of Romania as well", said Taron Margaryan.
The Mayor of Bucharest in his turn expressing gratitude for the invitation and the warm welcome expressed hope that in the nearest future the relations between the two cities will become closer and more practical. "I have been in Yerevan for only a few days and I am surprised with the attractive external look of Yerevan, the rates of its development and its cleanness. I have particularly admired with warm treatment of the residents towards you which I witnessed while walking with you about night Yerevan. This evidence speaks for itself: Yerevan Mayor really works for the sake of the residents of his city. This is the highest appreciation an official may have", stressed Sorin Minchea Opresku.
Taking into account that the problems in big cities are mainly the similar The mayor of Bucharest also expressed confidence that the partnership between the two cities will be effective and will significantly contribute to rabid regulation and solution of the problems concerning the population of friendly cities. Mayor Taron Margaryan in his turn assured his colleague that the Municipality of Yerevan is open and willing within its powers to support Romanian partners in the issue of implementation investment projects in Yerevan.
To make to programs provided by the signed Memorandum more practical Mayor Taron Margaryan suggested forming a working group which will work out the priorities and the schedule of work.
