59 damaged and non-viable elms to be replaced with 82 mature spherical catalpas
Replacement of old damaged trees is underway on Melik Adamyan Street in Yerevan. Small-leaved elms, which are at the end of their lifespan, diseased, and deformed, are being replaced with mature, 15-year-old spherical catalpas. This tree species is known for its broad, heart-shaped leaves, relatively rapid growth, and broad shady crown formation. Catalpas are widely used in urban landscaping; they thrive in sunny or semi-shaded areas, are resistant to various soil conditions, withstand diseases, and do not create an allergenic environment.
Fifty-nine elmshave been removed from Melik Adamyan Street, and 82 spherical catalpas are being planted instead.
