Issues Related to Historical And Cultural Buildings Discussed
The issues related to the preservation of memorial buildings in Yerevan were discussed during the meeting of the scientific and methodic council adjunct to the RA Ministry of ESCS. The meeting was conducted by Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan and the ESCS Deputy Minister Alfred Kocharyan.
Attaching importance to the activity and role of the council Tigran Avinyan marked that a unified approach should be adopted regarding the historical and cultural memorial buildings, which will exclude any changes in them during reconstruction. Since September 2022 Yerevan Municipality has started large-scale activities of dismantling in various areas of the city. In cooperation with the ministry, the construction blocking the arch of the Art Gallery in Republic Square was dismantled. Cafes located in green zones and spoiling the environment and look of the city are being dismantled too. From this point of view the city authorities have a clear vision and they follow this concept. Abovyan street and the surroundings of the Opera are coming next. The Council also touched upon the problem of abandoned buildings, discussed the state and community powers to restore them. The vice mayor also mentioned that the Council of Urban Development is restarting its activity. The community is also working on the General Plan of the city.
Referring to the items on the agenda, those present discussed the sketch proposal of the café in front of the “Armenia Marriott Yerevan” hotel at 1. Amiryan street. It was informed that during the two recent years the café has been working as a construction not attached to the building and at the end of the season it is assembled.
The architects and specialists of the sphere outlining the significance of Republic Square, offered to consider only light constructions in case with memorial buildings and to permit seasonal activity of the café in accordance with the project provided that the economic entity is to submit a new project amended in concordance with the observations made by the council.
