Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan hosted the delegation headed by the President of Athletics Federation of Armenia Robert Emmiyan which is the organizer of the international half marathon «Yerevan Run Arm 2015». The delegation of the participants of the half marathon included the former member of the French national football team, world and Europe champion Youri Djorkaef, the vice Mayor of Decenes-Charpieu Deni Djorkaef, the President of Athletics Federation of Latvia Guntis Zalitis and the vice-President of Athletics Federation of Greece Dimakos Panagiotis.
Greeting the guests the Mayor presented in brief the activities aimed at the activation of sport life in the capital stressing that particularly in the recent years clear policy is carried out towards improvement of the conditions in the sport centers in the capital and their corresponding equipment and healthy lifestyle propaganda.
The Municipality adopted the clear policy and the programs of sport life activation provided by Yerevan development programs will be long-term. Besides renovation of sport centers and their appropriate equipment, within the frames of yard areas improvement we provide yard areas with sport equipment and small football grounds, which, I believe, will promote upbringing a healthy and sport loving generation. Particuarly in the recent years, Yerevan sportsmen have achieved noticeable success in various kinds of sport, including Pan-Armenin and reppublican competitions getting the honorary first place in team account», said Taron Margaryan.
Referring to the 'Yerevan Run Arm 2015» international half marathon to be held in Yerevan for the first time on October 3, the Mayor expressed confidence that it would be accepted by the residents with enthusiasm. Expressing gratitude for warm welcome Robert Emmiyan in his turn expressed the delight of all the participants of the half marathon to Mayor Taron Margaryan for the assistance in the organization of the first international half marathon in Yerevan. Footballer Youri Djorkaef, Armenian by nation, noted that the position of Yerevan Mayor in sport issues is, in fact, the guarantee which will certainly contribute to healthy lifestyle spreading.
«Yerevan is really dear and indispensable for Armenians of Diaspora. And I am glad to see our common capital more beautiful, more well-arranged and comfortable. Last time I was in Armenia in 1999 and I should confess that I am impressed with today's Yerevan. I am also glad that in parallel with developing the city you attach importance to sport in the issue of bringing up a healthy generation. I hope that this international half marathon will also contribute to this issue and will be loved by the residents of the ctiy», said Youri Djorkaef.
At the end of the meeting Mayor Taron Margaryan once again emphasized tht Yerevan Municipality is always ready to support similar initiatives.
