After the capital repair park “Malatia” has been put into operation
Park “Malatia” has been put into operation after being repaired within the frames of “Beautiful Yerevan” project implemented jointly by the Municipality of Yerevan and the Programs of development of the UNO. During his working visit to Malatia Sebastia district Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan walked about the park together with the residents and assessed the work done. The residents expressed their delight with the implementation of the project and stressed that the programs of improvement and construction of parks are really essential and promised to treat the newly reconstructed park with care. By this project the previously badly-arranged area of 1,7 hectares has been provided with all conditions necessary for recreation. Benches, bowers, dustbins, children’s games have been installed here. New walkways, stairs have been constructed, external lighting and irrigation systems have been installed as well. Taking into account the slope landscape of the park some new headwalls have been built and the existing one has been repaired. 5 entrances to the park of the 9 ones have been adapted for disabled people. “Making the park available for people with disabilities is an obligatory condition in designs and as a result 5 entrances of the 9 have been adapted for people with locomotor disabilities. While implementing overhauling we try to construct wheelchair ramps wherever possible. This is the second year running we have been making the sidewalks of the streets available with people with disabilities due to cooperating with private and companies and interested NGOs. There is still a lot to be done and we are to work systematically so that our city will be comfortable for everyone”, said the Mayor.
Attaching particular importance to the programs implemented jointly with the Armenian office of the UNO Development Programs Mayor Taron Margaryan once again stressed that the Municipality is open and willing for cooperation and welcomes the participation of partner structures in Yerevan development programs.”In the recent years we have been implementing construction and reconstruction of parks and squares where possible. Today we have put into operation one more recreation zone which has been reconstructed within “Beautiful Yerevan” project being implemented jointly by the Municipality of Yerevan and the Armenian office of the UNO Programs of Development. I’d like to thank all our partners who gladly contribute to the issue of making Yerevan more comfortable and more beautiful”, said Taron Margaryan.
The Resident Coordinator of the UNO, the resident representative of the UNDP Bradly Buzetto in his turn expressed gratitude for successful cooperation and noted that the Municipality of Yerevan is really a reliable partner. The Mayor and Bradly Buzetto planted a fir tree in the park.
