Comfortable and safe conditions for about 380 children: more kindergartens opened in Yerevan after reconstruction
Two more kindergartens, renovated within the framework of the Yerevan Energy Efficiency Program, have been put into operation. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, together with the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos and UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili visited the kindergartens to see the conditions provided for children.
After the reconstruction, Yerevan Kindergarten N135 will have 6 groups. Currently, this kindergarten is attended by about 180 children.
Nursery N161 also opened after reconstruction with the capacity to accommodate 10 groups. Currently, the kindergarten-nursery is attended by about 200 children.
As part of the mandatory work, seismic reinforcement and energy efficiency measures were carried out in these preschools. Solar photovoltaic panels, LED lights were installed, and thermal insulation was performed as well.
This important project was implemented with a loan from the European Investment Bank (7 million euros), a grant from the Eastern Europe Energy and Environment Partnership (E5P) fund (5 million euros), co-financing from Yerevan Municipality (2 million euros) and support from UNDP (1 million euros).
