2025 IIHF World Championship Division IV to Be Held in Yerevan
From April 13 to 19, Yerevan will host the Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV. During the press conference, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, and the Secretary General of the Ice Hockey Federation of Armenia Aram Sargsyan discussed the details of the sport event.
The championship is going to place at Yerevan's Youth Figure Skating and Ice Hockey Sports School. A total of 15 matches will be held, featuring national teams from Armenia, Iran, Kuwait, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan.
Highlighting the importance of Armenia's national ice hockey team's participation in the World Championship for the first time in 15 years, Tigran Avinyan stated that the municipality is always ready to support such initiatives.
"In recent years, we’ve made significant progress in this sport. The Hockey league has been operating since 2023, and currently, about 80 students are training at our school under the guidance of experienced coaches. The infrastructure related to this sport discipline is also developing. We’ve recently made certain adjustments in the Yerevan Figure Skating and Hockey Youth School, following the suggestions from the ministry, to meet the requirements for hosting this championship. Overall, the infrastructural changes made over the past three years for various sports are creating better conditions for a healthy lifestyle, regular training, and the development of sports," emphasized Tigran Avinyan.
