One of the social programs provided by “Erebuni-Yerevan 2797” celebration program was the possibility given to the parents of the fixed-period servicemen from Yerevan serving in the frontier military units to visit their sons. On the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, 1400 parents of the servicemen are going to visit their sons in the military units of Tavush, Syunik and the south-east frontier zones of Armenia. Before the buses started Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan in person wished the parents a happy journey. Congratulating the residents on Yerevan’s day Mayor Taron Margaryan once again assured that the social programs being implemented with the frames of the celebration would be long-term.

“This program which is one of the numerous programs of cooperation between Yerevan Municipality and the frontier military units, has already become traditional. This year it coincided with the birthday of our city and we included it in “Erebuni-Yerevan” celebration events. This program implemented in teamwork with the Ministry of Defence, is certainly of big social significance for the families of the soldiers defending the borders of our country. Besides social significance, it is also important from the point of view of encouragement of our soldiers as they see that the homeland, the native city are always next to them and it’s very inspiring”, said the Mayor.
“Today about 1400 parents are going to the military units, moreover, there are parents who are visiting their sons for the second or third time. No parent applied for this program was refused. Every time we also send necessary equipment or appliances to the units. I want to assure once again that all the programs aimed at increasing the defensive capacity of our army, at supporting our soldiers and their families, will be long-term and if necessary will be expanded”, said Taron Margaryan. Stressing the importance of this initiative which is of big social significance, the soldiers’ parents expressed gratitude to Mayor Taron Margaryan for permanent attention and care and pointed out that Yerevan’s day had become a festival not only for the residents of the capital but also for their sons defending the borders. This time as usual the comfortable buses provided for the parents will be escorted by the road police cars and there will also be doctors on the buses.
