“People of Yerevan Are at the Core of Municipal Policy”, Tigran Avinyan
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has awarded certificates of appreciation to the most active citizens who raised their voices about various problems across the city through the “Active Citizen” platform, as well as to municipal employees who contributed to resolving those issues.
“The Active Citizen platform is more than just a technological tool for us. Through it, we are jointly transforming urban governance, making it more accessible, transparent, and responsive. Yerevan is creating a new culture: a culture of trust - shaped by the dedication of our municipal employees and the active engagement of our residents, whose observations help identify, analyze, and tackle the city’s challenges. Every reported issue, response, and solution plays a vital role in shaping the identity of our city. The most committed municipal employees hold a pivotal role in this transformation, embodying and advancing this new culture. Your example strengthens public trust in our work.
At the same time, the true driving force behind this progress is the citizen, the one who observes, speaks out, and brings attention to what needs to be improved. At the core of every project we initiate lies a principal question: Does it improve the daily lives of Yerevan residents? This evolving cooperation sustains our steady and confident progress.
Citizen engagement is one of our core values. With this event, we not only recognize the importance of feedback but also value constructive criticism and the reporting of problems.
Today, we also extend our gratitude to seven citizens who have demonstrated exceptional involvement on the Active Citizen platform. Their consistency and dedication have made a tangible contribution to the city’s development. Their example shows how every Yerevan resident can help build a better city. This is the Yerevan we envision: open, accessible, democratic, and accountable. I thank each of you for your commitment and the valuable work you do every day,” the Mayor stated.
The Active Citizen platform enables residents to report local issues by submitting text or voice messages and attaching videos or photos. Since April 2024, a total of 44,345 submissions concerning urban issues have been received, 20,000 of which were submitted via the Active Citizen platform. Of these, 42,854 issues have already been resolved, with the remaining cases currently in progress.
