Cooperation program has been signed between Yerevan Municipality and Rostov-on-Don administration
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the head of Rostov-on-Don (Russia) administration Sergey Gorban signed the program of cooperation in the spheres of trade and economy, science and technology, and culture provided for 2015-2020. According to it, the parties are obliged to strengthen and develop friendly relationship between the two cities. By the signed program the cooperation is to be developed in the fields of urban economy management, social, health care, culture, education, sport and youth affairs, establishment and development of economic ties as well as in the direction of urban transport management. Within the frames of reciprocal visits experience and information exchange will be carried out. Attaching importance to the cooperation program Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and the leader of Rostov administration Sergey Gorban expressed confidence that due to the signed agreement the cooperation frames will be expanded which is in its turn beneficial for the population of the cities.
''The friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples has the history of more than 200 years and today it is on the firm basis. Today the Armenian community of Rostov makes up more than 140 thousand people and they play an important role in the city development. By the signed cooperation programs we will give a new pace to bilateral relations in various spheres of urban economy developing mutually beneficial programs. It's not simply a cooperation program for us, it's one more step aimed at strengthening the friendship and interaction between our cities more practical. We will certainly have reciprocal visits within the frames of which we will carry out experience exchange'', said Sergey Gorban. Stressing the particular importance of the role of the Armenian community of Rostov Yerevan Mayor noted that due to their active support the cooperation will be effective and successful.
''We generally attach importance to cooperation expansion with our partner cities and to the attraction of new spheres. The cooperation in various spheres of urban economy pay particular role in our relations with friendly cities. Rostov-on-Don is one of Russian cities most densely populated by Armenians and their presence in the city has serious historical roots. Today the Armenian community is highly respected both in the political and economical life of Rostov. And I am sure that due to the active support of our compatriots we will activate our ties and implement new investment projects. As I have stated many times. We are open and willing to realize any program benefiting our city development and the welfare of our citizens”, said Taron Margaryan.
