The Center for Online Support of the Deaf has opened in Yerevan due to the assistance of Yerevan Municipality
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan visited the Union of the Deaf of Armenia, took part in the ceremony of opening of the Center for Online Support of the Deaf. This center opened with the assistance of Yerevan Municipality will make it possible for 650 deaf people to communicate and get necessary assistance by means of video equipment working 24 hours. Presenting the technical facilities of the center to the Mayor, the persons in charge noted that the center had been equipped with appropriate technical and communication means and the service is available for smartphones and computers connected to the Internet.
Expressing his gratitude to Yerevan Mayor the President of the Union of the Deaf of Armenia Grigor Grigoryan noted that about 650 people with speech and hearing problems living in Yerevan were previously assisted by the 5 translators of the center who accompanied them everywhere. He added that due to the center the possibilities of such assistance significantly increase.
Taron Margaryan in his turn assured that the Municipality would carry on the programs aimed at making the city more available and convenient for people with disabilities to integrate them into society as much as possible.
From now on the 4 operators working in the center will be able to show assistance to more beneficiaries which will make it possible for this social group to relieve their problems of everyday communication.
The beneficiaries needed urgent help were granted tablet computers by Yerevan Municipality to make use of the center services.
