The second stage of rehabilitation treatment program “Yerevan Municipality for Yerevan children” has started
The second stage of “Yerevan Municipality for Yerevan children” which includes water therapy has started. The joint program of the Municipality of Yerevan and “Armenian mothers” benevolent NGO is a full course of rehabilitation for the disabled children with cerebral palsy. The program involves 17 children under single mothers’ care.
“The problems of our citizens with disabilities are obligatory included in various programs of the Municipality. On the initiative of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan all the possibilities concerning this sphere are put into operation to ease these problems gradually and this is done not only by making the city more convenient but also with such programs aimed at their health. It should be noted that this program is one of the long-lasting programs of the Municipality”, said Yerevan Mayor’s assistant Samvel Mertarjyan.
The program was submitted to the Municipality by “Armenian mothers” NGO.
“Such a rapid and practical response to our program was really unexpected. The program is going on in accordance with the wishes of the mothers of beneficiary children. And all this is a great psychological support for these children’s mothers. Now we are at the second stage of the project-water therapy. Hydrotherapy suggests further more effective physiotherapy and other trainings, because the muscle system is trained. Water exercises are carried out by the children’s beloved kinesitherapeutist Misak Darbinyan and we expect good results. All necessary conditions have been provided: a small swimming pool where it is possible to keep permanent required temperature”, said the founding director of “Armenian mothers” NGO Narine Manukyan. The children’s mothers stressed that the positive influence of the first stage of the program, hypotherapy is obvious.
After finishing the third, art therapy stage the beneficiary children will have another three-staged course in autumn.
