Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Syrian Arabic Republic to Armenia H.E. Ms Nora Arisyan. The agreement on declaring Yerevan and Damask as sister-cities was signed in 1997: the parties stated that the document needs to be refreshed.
Referring to the programs under implementation in Yerevan and the pace of the city’s development, Ambassador Nora Arisyan marked that the cities in Syria need Yerevan’s experience.
Mayor Avinyan marked that Yerevan is open and willing to implement various cooperation programs with the cities of Syria and to show all necessary support.
“The friendly relationship between Armenian and Syrian people has historical bond, and Armenians have active involvement in different spheres of Syria. And I am certainly happy that you, Ms Ambassador represent the Syrian Arabic Republic in this position. Realizing the hardships of the period you had to pass through, we are ready to support our partner city in all issues”, stressed the Mayor.
