Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan took part in the opening of the museum-memorial complex of Mushegh Galshoyan

The museum-memorial of the writer, publicist laureate of the USSR State Prize Mushegh Galshoyan built at the initiative of the RA Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan in Katnaghbyur village of Aragatsotn marz. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, the RA NA Vice President Hermine Naghdalyan, RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, the Vicar of the Ararat Patriarchal Diocese Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, the Governor of Aragatsotn marz Sargis Sahakyan, members of Parliament, representatives of state structures and NGOs and numerous fans of Mushegh Galshoyan’s works.Mushegh Galshoyan’s widow and children were present at the event too.

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan put flowers at the writer’s grave in Katnaghbyur village. The honour of opening the museum was given to Mayor Taron Margaryan and to the writer’s daughter, Siranush Galshoyan.
“The author of the initiative and the construction of Mushegh Galshoyan’s museum-memorial complex was our late Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan. Years ago, in 2001, while visiting the native village of the national hero Tatul Krpeyan, Areg village, the Prime Minister, passing by Katnaghbyur village, pointed to this hillside and said that it was one of the most favourite places of Mushegh”, presenting the pre-history of the museum creation said the First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan. Afterwards the prime Minister instructed to start two important constructions: reconstruction of Talin fortress and creation of Mushegh Galshoyan’s memorial complex. Andranik Margaryan also said that it would be right if one of the architects were from Sasun. Every time visiting Irind Andranik Margaryan used to visit the building site, watched the process, gave advice. “The aim of the Prime Minister was to create a spiritual center here where our national spirit, out devotion to our homeland would be kept”, said Kamo Areyan. Unfortunately, Andranik Margaryan passed away before he could see his initiative finished and years later his son, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the heirs of the writer carried on the work of the big patriot and accomplished it.
Together with the participants of the event Mayor Taron Margaryan toured the museum, familiarized himself with the exhibits, shared his impressions with the visitors.
“I think all this harmonizes with Galshoyan’s soul”, said Galshoyan’s daughter.
The ceremony of opening was followed by national songs and dances turning into a real celebration.
