Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan Watches Process of Ventilation System Replace in Metro
Last year the government allotted 650 million drams to ensure safe work of the city metropolitan railway. Approximately 500 million was used for the replacement of ventilation systems.
Right after the Metro ends its work for passengers, the work of specialists for ventilation systems begins in the underground tunnels. Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan visited the metro at midnight to watch the process on the spot.
The Mayor informed that it is the second most important program after digging the drainage tunnels. It makes it possible to reduce the level of humidity in the metro to make its work more durative. Currently only 14 ventilation systems have been replaced with the support of the government financing, and 14 more are needed. However, the Mayor is certain that the process will be continued.
This is the first time the ventilation systems have been replaced with new ones. The new systems are more powerful, economical, and convenient to operate. The air of the underground will become cleaner, and a microclimate will be provided. Besides, as specialists claim, the level of humidity will decrease thereby reducing the level of corrosion.
The first ventilation device installed was tested by the Mayor.
The government and the community consider the vital significance of the metro. Consequently, they have initiated and plan various programs to be implemented stage by stage.
“We have large-scale programs related to the metropolitan improvement. Last year we raised the salaries of the employees and improved their working conditions, we also plan to reconstruct the depot. We will certainly have a better underground railway in the near future”, stressed the Mayor.
Nowadays, the metro is the most convenient, eco-friendly, fast and safe transport means, that is why the number of those who prefer this means is increasingly growing. There are approximately 80 thousand passengers a day.
