The 5th biggest bridge in Yerevan which is built over the Hrazdan river is almost ready. Its length is 252 m and the width is 28 m. The bridge is the most important element of the new road connecting the northern and southern entries of the city.
Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan was the first to pass along the bridge together with the builders.
The construction of Babajanyan-Ashtarak and Argavand-Shirak segments of the western bypass road of Yerevan is going on at full speed.
Total length of Babajanyan-Ashtarak segment is 9.4 km, average length is 24 m. It has 7 overpasses and one transport hub at the junction of New Silikyan street.

The length of Argavand-Shirak road segment is 2.7 km, the average width is 26 m. It involves the metal bridge over the Hrazdan river and one overpass at the road hub at the junction of Isakov-Babajanyan streets.
“The cooperation with the French designing company as well as Spanish, Georgian and local contractors was quite successful. The activities are going on in accordance with the schedule and we hope to open it in May. As a result we will have one common road making it possible to pass by the central streets of Yerevan”, said the Mayor.
The head of supervising organization staff Pierre Maurice informed that the construction of the bridge is almost over. It corresponds to European standards, is safe and saves time for drivers. Mr. Maurice stressed that it was not easy to work in the condition of the pandemic and war, however due to the good teamwork the construction is almost completed.

During the construction some changes were made in the project at the suggestions of townspeople. There were a number of disagreements with them at first but the city authorities managed to come to an agreement with residents.
Currently, the city authorities are negotiating with the government about starting a new road segment – Arshakunyats-Isakov.

“At this moment we are negotiating with “Siemense” company to install an experimental system of traffic lights management. A number of activities have already been carried out in the direction of transport improvement. The tender for procurement of new buses manufactured in Europe is going to be held and we expect that in 2022 the buses will be in Yerevan. All the programs are aimed at making Yerevan more convenient for townspeople”,-stressed Hrachya Sargsyan.
The new road financed with the second trench of the sustainable urban development investment program will connect Davtashen, Ajapnyak, Malatia-Sebastia and Shengavit administrative districts.
