The ceremony of unveiling the sculpture named “Hallowed Be Your Name” authored by the eminent Armenian sculptor, Armenia’s People’s Artist, member of the Arm.SSR Academy of Arts Ghukas Chubaryan tool place in Children’s Park in Yerevan. The sculptor created the statue in commemoration of his missing brother who perished in 1942 near Saint Petersburg. The artist’s daughter Gohar Chubaryan confessed that this sculpture was considered by the artist himself to be his best work as it is about love and faith, and any life given during wartime is a sacrifice no matter during which war it happened.
Anush Chubaryan also marked that her father had always considered being a citizen of Armenia to be an honour which is to be deserved.
This cosy nook of the city has become very special due to the art of Chubaryan. The sculpture was placed by the decision of the Council of Elders of Yerevan to evaluate the artistic legacy of the outstanding Armenian artist.
The placement of the sculpture was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ghukas Chubaryan whose works of art can be found in many parts of the city. He was the author of the sculpture of Tumanyan, the bust of Charents, the statues of Mesrop Mashtots, Spendiaryan, and today Yerevan has been enriched with another work by the artist. Vice-Mayor Avinyan thanked the relatives of the artist for the present. The RA Minister of ESCS Zhanna Andreasyan who was present at the ceremony, said that it is impossible to imagine our city without Chubaryan’s scultures.
The honour of solemn opening of the statue was given to Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan, the RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and to Chubaryan’s relatives.
