Exhibition dedicated to 50th anniversary of Modern Art Museum is open
The Modern Art Museum marks its 50th jubilee with an exclusive exhibition presented in the formed building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Republic square. More than 300 works of art never exhibited before were brought from the archives of the museum. Works by Jansem, Garzu, Minas Avetisyan, Ashot Hovhannisyan, Vruyr Galstyan, Rudolf Khachatryan, the Elibekyans are among them.
The project was carried out with the support of Yerevan Municipality and the National Hero of Armenia Eduardo Ernekyan.
The First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Levon Hovhannisyan was present at the event. Accompanied by the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Culture and Tourism Gosh Sargsyan and the director of the museum Nune Avetisyan, Levon Hovhannisyan toured about the exhibition halls and watched the exhibitions.
Deputy Mayor congratulated the museum’s jubilee on behalf of Yerevan Mayor, and claimed that the Municipality is always ready to support the Armenian modern art.
“50 years ago this idea seemed impossible and was unprecedented. It united the devotees of our country and our culture. The Museum of Modern Art of Yerevan remained faithful to its calling and mission. And today we also pay our tribute to Henrik Igityan. I am happy that the Municipality has its contribution to holding this great exhibition”, said the Deputy Mayor.
On the event of the 50th jubilee the Modern Art Museum was awarded with “Yerevan” golden medal. A number of employees were awarded as well: the deputy director Gagik Karapetyan and the chief accountant Hamest Gabrielyan were awarded with ‘’Erebuni-Yerevan-2800” memorial medal, some other employees got Yerevan Mayor’s honorary diplomas.
During the press-conference held on the event the head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Culture and Tourism Gosh Sargsyan noted that the city authorities are going to expand the support shown to community-owned cultural centres and museums.
The museum is open for visitors since June 17, every day from 11:00 till 18:00 except Monday. It is open for two months.
