The program of events of “Erebuni-Yerevan 2797” also includes actions dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the official delegations visited Yerevan was present at the opening of the open-air exhibition of cuneiforms «Chronology of stone monuments» held in the park located in the segment of Main avenue between Nalbandyan and Hanrapetutyan streets. The copies of the cuneiform records found in Western Armenia-in Tushpa (Van), Tigranakert and other cities are displayed at the exhibition with scientific comments and translation.
In his speech addressed to those present Deputy Mayor Aram Sukiasyan congratulating the residents and the guests of the capital on Yerevan's day noted that this open-air exhibition is of great cognitive significance.
“The cuneiforms left out of our care and control in Western Armenia are valuable not only for the Armenian people but for all mankind. They prove the fact that many of them aren't preserved in Turkey. Here are the copies of the cuneiforms which once belonged to our capitals, they claim the dates of their foundation, the battles, victories and achievements. In particular, here are represented cuneiforms from Alashkert, Mush, Van-Tushpa, which are presented for the first time so the event also has its cognitive significance as it refers to the past, its ancientry, the origins of its culture”, said Aram Sukiasyan.
Mayor Taron Margaryan accompanied by the Karmir Blur branch of Erebuni historical and archaeological reserve-museum Mikael Badalyan and by the author of the copies of cuneiforms, Artak Hambardzumyan walked about the park, familiarized himself with the cuneiforms.
