The delegation headed by Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan had a meeting with the Chairman of Tehran City Council. Greeting the members of the Yerevan delegation, Mehdi Chamran stressed the importance of collaboration being established between Yerevan and Tehran and stated that there is a great opportunity to transfer the bilateral relationship into a practical stage.
“We are glad to have constructive interactions and we must make efforts to make the outlined programs come true. Tehran has a real potential to share knowledge and experience to Yerevan, and we are willing to make use of your experience”, noted the Chairman of Tehran City Council.
Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan in his turn stressed that Yerevan is highly interested in cooperation expansion with the capital of the IRI, and expressed confidence that new perspectives for cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two capitals will also open so as to implement joint programs on this level as well.
“Our histories and cultures are interrelated, and that is why the Armenians of Iran became an inseparable part of this country and have their contribution to the development of the state. Today we are creating a history which will be handed down to generation”, stressed Yerevan Mayor.
Taking into account the fact that the problems of big cities are similar, the parties attached particular significance to experience exchange in various fields of urban economy. The leader of “My Step” faction of Yerevan Council of Elders Armen Galjyan, the leader of “Luys” faction David Khazhakyan and the leader of “Prosperous Armenia” faction Armen Nersisyan who were present at the meeting as well stated that the Council of Elders must help in the fulfillment of the provisions fixed in the documents signed between the two capitals.
