Programs Discussed During This Week’s Working Meeting

Renovation work on the Kievyan Bridge is officially underway. The project includes the rehabilitation of the bridge’s roadway and pedestrian sections, replacement of expansion joints and drainage systems, waterproofing works, restoration of the bridge’s spans and supports, as well as the implementation of safety and traffic management measures.

The city is also actively addressing the shortage of preschools across all administrative districts of Yerevan.
In the Nor Kharberd district, construction is underway on a new kindergarten designed to accommodate six groups of children.
Construction of new buildings for Kindergarten No. 24 in the Arabkir administrative district and a kindergarten in the Avan administrative district is also progressing.
Meanwhile, preparation of the design and cost estimates for the construction of a new kindergarten building and the renovation of its surrounding area in the Korea Gorge area of the Arabkir administrative district is nearing completion. Once finalized, the documentation will be submitted for expert review.
The kindergarten previously operating in the Mental Health Center building has been successfully relocated to new building, where comfortable conditions have been ensured for the children.
The kindergarten in the Kilikia district has also been relocated, as the previous building was classified as a Risk Category III construction.
The reconstruction of Kindergarten No. 156 in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district is in the final stage.

As part of the Yerevan Municipality’s annual program, courtyard reconstructions are moving forward at Kindergartens No. 112, 36, 97, 164, 143, 99, and 95. The program provides a comprehensive solution, ensuring not only high-quality building conditions, but also comfortable, modern outdoor spaces for children.

The second phase of construction is now rolling out in the area adjacent to the “Tork Angegh” statue. This recreational zone, distinguished by its terrain and scale, will feature a stage and amphitheater, a playground, a football pitch, a workout area, a bicycle path, and outdoor lighting and irrigation systems. To date, 1,400 trees have been planted in the area.

A new playground has been built in the backyard of School No. 80, named after V. Vagharshyan, the Kentron administrative district. Constructed in line with modern standards, the playground will serve both the school’s students and residents of the Kilikia district as a brand-new venue for active recreation and leisure.

Renovation of the sidewalk connecting 29/6 Moldovakan Street and Bagrevand Street in the Nor Nork administrative district has been completed. The project involved installing curbstones, constructing a retaining wall, paving, asphalt surfacing, and cladding the retaining wall with basalt slabs.

At the Yerevan Zoo, comprehensive improvement, renovation, and infrastructure development works were rolled out this year to improve both animal welfare and visitor comfort. Six new enclosures have been constructed, the zoo’s drainage system has been cleared, and modern ticketing and cash-handling equipment has been installed.

The three-year joint initiative of the Yerevan Municipality and the Île-de-France Regional Council is drawing to a close. Funded primarily by the Paris Region Institute and the French Development Agency, the program focused on providing strategic expert assistance to the Yerevan Municipality in urban planning, transport, traffic management, and waste management. In May, the program’s final conference was held in Yerevan, during which the results of the cooperation were reviewed and new directions for future partnership were discussed.
