Avetik Isahakyan’s 150th Anniversary Marked with the Premiere of the Oratorio Abu-Lala Mahari
To mark the 150th anniversary of Avetik Isahakyan, the Yerevan Municipality announced a competition in January 2025 for the creation of a vocal-symphonic composition, specifically inspired by Isahakyan's poem “Abu-Lala Mahari”. The winning work was the oratorio titled “Abu-Lala Mahari”, which was composed by Vache Sharafyan.
The work recently held its premiere, performed by the orchestra and choir of the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after A. Spendiaryan. Yerevan Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan attended the event.
