Students exchange program with Germany: Levon Hovhannisyan meets participants
The First Deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan together with the head of the Department of General Education Margarite Khachatryan visited the basic school N60 after V. Teryan and met the pupils who arrived from Germany where they were by exchange program.
Since 2010, the school has been implementing the students exchange program with the gymnasium of Naumburg, Saxony-Anhait, Germany. Since 2012 the school has been providing advanced study of German and the lessons are taught by specialists invited from Germany. During the last 10 years more than 20 students continued their education in top universities of Germany.
The exchange program involved eight pupils of the 9th grade who had made significant progress in studies. Speaking about their 10-day visit and impressions they had had, the children noted that besides lessons they had also had meetings with the mayor, the consul, and some other officials.
Levon Hovhannisyan stressed the importance of such programs as they benefit development of language skills, expansion and strengthening of ties as well as make it possible to get higher education abroad. However, the Deputy Mayor stressed that it is highly important to contribute the knowledge they gained to the development of our city and our country.
The coordinator of the centre for foreign schools Benjamin Speth stressed that this program is the most expected as it opens wide perspectives to students.
The municipal school N60 is considered the best school with advanced study of German in the region.
