Safe, Accessible, and Comfortable: Yerevan’s Transportation System Undergoes Reforms
When using public transport, passengers now have three payment options: QR code tickets, 100-dram coins, and bank cards. The transition to a unified ticketing system starting January 1 is not always clear and acceptable to Yerevan residents, and some kind of resistance can be noted.
Residents have many questions and concerns, but the city authorities do their best to provide proper explanations. About 550,000 citizens using public transportation will receive fare discounts, and several other groups will travel for free. Alongside the payment reforms, the number of vehicles is also increasing. 15 new trolleybuses have already been put into operation, and the launch of 171 bus routes is also in the planning stage.
Safe, accessible, and comfortable: by 2025, Yerevan will have a significantly improved transportation system.
