The platforms created within the GIS (Geographic Information System) implemented at Yerevan Municipality are provided with new data. Information about the location of coffee shops, food venues, and payment terminals is now available as well. A platform has also been developed to monitor the routes, timelines, progress, and quality of construction activities. The mapping process will also enable supervision in the organization of waste management in the capital—from the approach of garbage trucks to bins to the transportation of waste.
“These digital tools transfer us to a completely new era, and the work currently being done using GIS technologies is substantially improving the efficiency of our work from a governance perspective,” said the Mayor. “These analyses will make our work easier and more streamlined, and Yerevan residents will be noticeably more satisfied with our work.”

Since the beginning of the year, about 10 km of new irrigation systems have already been installed in Yerevan. By 2025, a total of 25 km of new networks will be built. During the urban tree planting campaign, around 1,300 trees and more than 200 evergreen shrubs have been planted. This week, a new forested area will be created near one of the entrances to Yerevan, on the slopes along the Ashtarak-Yerevan highway. The city has acquired about 10,000 evergreen shrubs, which are currently being added throughout Yerevan, with 40,000 ones grown at the municipal nursery. Over the past two and a half years, more than 20,000 trees have been planted in Yerevan, and this year that number will approach 25,000. In Kentron administrative district, tree planting is planned across 35 hectares. The program will start at the Zoological Garden and end at Guy Avenue. So far, the illegally occupied land plots in those 35 hectares have been cleared of fences, and slum-like structures have been demolished.

From 2022 to 2025, a total of 21,902 outdoor advertising units have been dismantled in Yerevan, 588 of which had large information displays. New outdoor advertising permits mostly refer not to new locations, but to replacing old carriers with new ones. Mayor Tigran Avinyan has instructed that steps be taken to ensure that the Yerevan City Council’s future decisions prohibit issuing permits for outdoor advertising in lawn areas. Another regulatory change will concern limiting the placement of multiple advertising carriers at a single intersection.
