9 new preschools to be opened in Yerevan schools
New preschool institutions will be established in municipal basic schools No. 80, 88, 98, 99, 110, 123, 146, 151 and 167. The project is being implemented by Yerevan Municipality on the initiative of the government. Construction work is currently underway. The preschool institutions will open their doors in September.
"Currently, there are 11 preschool institutions in Yerevan. Nine more are going to be launched. In the new academic year, we will have 20 preschools," said Margarit Khachatryan, Head of the Public Education Department of Yerevan Municipality.
"Within the framework of the state program for the development of education, we plan that by 2030, preschool children will be 100% involved in preschool education. This program is being implemented not only due to the state support, but also with the support of the World Bank," emphasized Tamara Sargsyan, Head of the General Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
Preschool institutions are intended for children aged 4-6. The 4-hour program corresponds to the senior groups of kindergartens but does not include the organization of meals and sleep. Each group will have no more that 30 children. The schools were selected taking into account the status of the districts, the availability and workload of kindergartens.
To enroll in newly opened preschool institutions, you must go to the appropriate school and register. If there are vacant places, registration is possible throughout the academic year, however, given the fact that places are limited, those wishing to participate should hurry.
