The recreation zones of Yerevan are being restored step by step. Well-arrangement of parks and squares in different administrative districts are going on with the framework of the annual programs of the Municipality. Accompanied by the persons in charge Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan visited the spots to watch the process.

“There are still lots of parks in Yerevan that are not used as they are in bad conditions. Out general policy is to restore all parks and only then think about laying new ones”, said the Mayor.
The park dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War which is in Malatia-Sebastia district, has never been renovated ever since its creation, so the renovation has become urgent.
The park has distinctive architectural solutions and after its renovation and reoperation of the big fountain complex the recreation zone will become fully comfortable for townspeople. Taking into account the volumes of investment, the completion of the project is scheduled for 2023.
According to the acting head of Yerevan Municipality Department of Building and Improvement Khoren Grigoryan, their main goal is to restore the previous look of this memorial built in the Soviet period. Fountains help cooling the heat in summer and the water structure is to be restored to ensure the same volumes of water as they used to be.
The Mayor stressed that the well-arrangement should be comprehensive and involve restoration of memorial as well. So, he instructed to carry out designing activities. The completion of the project is scheduled for the end of 2023 or the spring of 2024. The Mayor also expressed hope that townspeople would preserve the areas and never pollute them as all means spent on improvement come from the taxes paid by citizens.
Comfortable conditions for the recreation organization anticipated in annual program will be provided in Abovyan park as well. The external illumination, irrigation network will be modernized, benches, dustbins will be installed, the whole area will be landscaped and greened.
Years of neglect had negative impact on many gardens and parks of the capital. The 4th segment of Circular park and the park after Komitas are also involved in improvement programs.
The park after Komitas used to be leased for years. The leaser decided to do some work in the park However, before implementing any activities leasers are obliged to coordinate the drafts of constructions and landscaping with the municipal organization entitled “Landscaping and Environment Protection” which had been established with the aim to make the city have a common style of landscaping.
The First deputy Mayor Levon Hovhannisyan informed that this year 1.2 milliard drams were anticipated in the budget to finance renovation of recreation zones and construction of new rest zones. 3.2 milliard drams have been anticipated for increasing green areas and making the city more comfortable. The policy of the city authorities is aimed at turning Yerevan into convenient environment for everyone and at the principle of proportional development.
