Beneficiaries are testing the wheelchair ramps constructed in 2016
To create maximally comfortable environment for all residents of Yerevan including those who have locomotor problems, wheelchair ramps are constructed in the capital.
Within the frames of Yerevan municipal programs provided for 2016 270 ramps are to be constructed,90 of which have already been finished. In accordance with Yerevan Mayor’s instruction during the construction and after finishing it the work done is checked not only by the persons in charge but also by the representatives of NGOs.
“This year the construction of ramps will be organized in all administrative districts of the capital. We regularly carry out inventory of the addresses where there is need for ramps so as to include them in out further programs. I’d like to outline that the construction of ramps is fulfilled by the program of overhauling of streets and sidewalks as a result of which the number of ramps is increased”, said the Deputy Staff Secretary of Yerevan Samvel Mertarjyan.
Estimating the process of the program implementation the beneficiaries noted that the ramps correspond to the international standards and make it possible to move not only in the streets but also in parks and gardens without additional help.
