The Association, established in June 2002 on the initiative of the city of Lyons, unites cities of light of the world. LUCI’s purpose is to use light as a supportive means for city services and implement the city lighting by bringing together main partners. The Association has international significance: it fosters the process of making light an important factor of life, urban development and architecture. The organization is non-for-profit. More than 66 cities and 48 associated members are involved in this Association. The executive committee of the Association consists of 9 member cities (voting members): Dubrovnik (Croatia), Eindhoven (the Netherlands), Gent (Belgium), Glasgow (the UK), Gothenburg Sweden), Leipzig (Germany), Lyon (France), Yuvyaskyulya (Finland), Seoul (Southern Korea). The executive committee is elected for 2 years’ term.
