Senior Data Analyst / Researcher

The “Yerevan Traffic Management Center” Municipal Institution is looking for a Senior Data Analyst / Researcher to support data-driven management, analysis, and research of Yerevan’s traffic and public transport systems.

The position is part of the Analysis and Management Department and works in close cooperation with the Data Scientist / AI Modeler, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Project Managers, and other specialists.

Working Conditions
●    Employment type: Full-time
●    Work format: On-site (office-based), not remote
●    Probation period: 3 months (paid)
●    After probation: medical insurance
●    Salary: based on experience and qualifications
●    Working hours: Monday-Friday, 09:00-18:00
●    Workplace: Yerevan, 16 Kirk Kerkorian Street, Armenia

Key Responsibilities
●    Collect, clean, process, structure, and analyze multi-source data from GPS/AVL systems, CCTV, sensors, passenger counting systems, monitoring platforms, and other digital sources.
●    Work with existing datasets and contribute to the development of data collection methodologies; when necessary, organize or coordinate additional data collection activities.
●    Perform descriptive, comparative, and time-series analyses to identify trends, patterns, and key performance indicators.
●    Conduct data-driven analysis and evaluation of processes, programs, and policies aimed at improving public transport, traffic management, and smart mobility.
●    Analyze traffic intensity, public transport network performance, stop operations efficiency, passenger flows, and service quality.
●    Contribute to the analysis of traffic congestion, road accidents, hazardous locations, and safety risks, including root cause analysis.
●    Perform data preprocessing, validation, cleaning, and quality control to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
●    Prepare analytical reports, briefs, tables, charts, maps, and other data visualizations.
●    Contribute to the development and improvement of KPI systems and performance measurement frameworks.
●    Participate in the design of analytical and monitoring systems, including their business logic and calculation models.
●    Perform GIS analysis, spatial modeling, and cartographic visualization.
●    Participate in research activities, including field observations and surveys when necessary.
●    Work closely with the Data Scientist / AI Modeler to prepare data for modeling and to interpret analytical results.
●    Collaborate with Project Managers, the CTO, and other specialists to support decision-making and implementation of analytical insights.
●    Study international best practices, methodologies, and indicator systems and adapt them to local conditions.
●    Contribute to building a data-driven and analytical culture within the Center, supporting internal capacity development and the professional growth of junior specialists.
●    Participate in meetings, workshops, and working groups.
●    Ensure compliance with data confidentiality, information security, and personal data protection regulations.
●    Prepare analytical conclusions and recommendations and present them to the management.

Required Qualifications
●    University degree in Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
●    At least 5 years of professional experience in data analysis or research, including work with large, complex, and multi-source datasets.
●    Strong command of the full data analytics lifecycle, from problem definition to management-level recommendations.
●    High level of data-driven thinking and analytical architecture, with the ability to design measurement systems, KPI frameworks, and evaluation models.
●    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 / MS Office, especially:
○    Excel (PowerQuery, PowerPivot, data models, complex calculation logic),
○    Access or similar tools for data structures,
○    Word and PowerPoint for management-level reporting,
○    VBA / scripting is a plus.
●    Strong knowledge of Google Workspace.
●    Advanced use of SQL / PostgreSQL / MySQL for complex queries and cross-dataset analysis.
●    Strong command of BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
●    Solid knowledge of statistics and research methodologies.
●    Experience with data quality management and validation methods.
●    Experience working with spatial data (GIS) and practical command of spatial analysis and cartographic modeling methods.
●    Experience integrating data from complex systems.
●    Ability to present analytical results in a clear, management-oriented way and influence decision-making.
●    Excellent Armenian, and fluent working proficiency in English and Russian.

Will Be Considered an Advantage
●    GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS)
●    GTFS / GTFS-RT / NeTEx
●    AVL / GPS systems (in particular Wialon)
●    Python
●    Experience with video analytics for surveillance systems, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), and mobility management dashboards.
●    Experience with urban mobility monitoring and management dashboards, smart city or urban information analytics platforms.
●    Experience in public transport, traffic management, or infrastructure systems.
●    Experience preparing strategic analytical documents for government or large organizations.
